What is SFX?

SFX is a  tool for easier access to full text electronic journals offered by the Hebrew University libraries. While searching most of our databases, you will see an SFX button/link : FindIt@HUJI

These links will always bring you to a  SFX menu, which is context-sensitive. Typically, the information you find in the database describes a journal article, a book, or some other citable references. SFX interprets this information and presents a specific list of services relevant for that citation. When full-text is available, the SFX menu  provides a direct link to the full text content. Depending on the situation, links to a number of other relevant services may also be provided.

SFX also provides an a-z list of all the electronic journals available to Hebrew University patrons, as well as a citation linker which enables quick access to the full text of a bibliographic citation you would like to follow.

SFX allows you to access only the e-journals that are purchased for you by the Hebrew University Libraries

What does SFX do?

SFX provides direct links from a database citation to the full text of the article (if available) and other supporting resources.

How do I access SFX?

Many databases to which the library subscribes are linked to the SFX knowledge base. When you find a record in one of these databases, click on the SFX button. You can also access the SFX a-z list of electronic journals or the SFX citation linker from your library homepage.

What service options does SFX provide?

Because SFX is context specific, service options will change from citation to citation. When available, and as appropriate, SFX services offered will link to one or more of the following:

     - Full Text Services:

direct link to full text of the article in one or more sources
link to a journal's home page or table of contents that will lead you to the full text of the article
link to one or more databases that you may search for the full text of the article

     -  Additional Services:

Interlibrary loan request form
link to the Hebrew University catalog and to the Union List of Serials.

Why is the full text not always available?

If a link to full text is not on the menu, then the Library does not license the electronic full text for the particular title or that particular issue may not be available. If the full text link is not shown, be sure to check the online catalog link to see if the journal title is available in print form.
